| Win Them With Kindness`
It goes without saying. You catch more bees with honey. When
marketing and promoting your business you have to go beyond a
friendly smile and positive self-confident approach. It's the
follow thru that counts to your potential customer. Continued
personal interest keeps them coming back for more.
Many businesses do not realize the strong message they send out
when a client calls and is immediately put on hold or treated
like just another phone call. When business is good and your
product or service is in high demand your team or staff may
begin allowing their best business face slip. Once this happens
clients immediately start to slip away as well.
Client retention is the life blood of any business. Once you
start losing them this can be an indicator of a serious flaw in
the way a business is doing things. You need to be down right
considerate and interested in your clients needs. Often the
hustle and bustle of the day leave little room to train your
staff on how to treat their clients. So the need is simply to
set the example. How?
When assistant administrator's day, secretary's day and
reception day rolls around treat staff like they are the only
personas on earth. Give them a thank you they wont quickly
forget. Live it up with flowers, lunch out and a very special
greeting card hand signed by you with words reflecting
appreciation. Remember to say thank you to individual staff
members and treat them to surprise pizza to say job well done.
Remember to encourage vacationing team members to enjoy
themselves and do what you can to assure this. Office workers
love getting candies, cookies, cakes and such. Award them with a
pick me up each and every week.
The point is kindness and consideration is contagious. When we
catch it we immediately pass it on with out even realizing it.
And the return is phenomenal. Soon the spirit of gratitude and
appreciation is passed on to the client with the response.
"That's just the way we do things around here."
In addition to giving your team a hefty dose of kindness give
consideration to making some minor adjustments in the way
clients are thought of. One company sends out greetings cards on
the anniversary of the contract established with each client.
Other companies focus on dates of birth. Another company sends
out post cards containing seasonal reminders and money saving
tips, while others choose some other personal focus.
A number of companies send out thank you cards with messages
acknowledging a companys good business ethics or involvement in
community aid programs. All greeting, thank you and post cards
are hand signed to give the message personal appeal.
The key is get personal, say thank you in color meaningful ways,
spread the love and keep above all dont let the spirit of
gratitude, appreciation and thanks get old. The success of your
business depends on it.
